UPDATE-SB 704-DIVISION OF MOTOR VEHICLES/EXTEND DEADLINES

The program changes for SB704 that extends registration-related expiration dates for five months for any credential that expires on or after March 1 and before August 1 has been implemented.

Any fines and fees related to expired credentials will be temporarily waived. Remember, customers who have already paid a late renewal as of April will automatically be reimbursed by check or if paid by credit card, payment will be credited back to the credit card. Anticipated processing time for refunds is approximately 3- 4 weeks.

Customer’s expiration months will not change so remember not to change the date of operation.

Note:

The DMV can accept an expired NC driver license or NC ID that expired March 1, 2020 – July 31, 2020 only. This is also for dealer work.
